Why Moonshadow Ranch Works for a 4 day Wedding Weekend

4 day Wedding Weekend

Most weddings move too fast. You blink during the vows, the toasts fly by, and before the last song fades, you’re already saying goodbye to the people who drove in to be there. We wanted something slower. That’s the whole reason a wedding at Moonshadow Ranch runs across a four day weekend instead of a single afternoon. You get real time in the Texas Hill Country, close enough to Austin that your guests can find us, far enough out that you can actually see the stars at night.

We’re a working ranch in Burnet County, about 45 minutes from Downtown Austin, approximately 20 miles from Georgetown, and roughly 30 miles from Round Rock. Couples come to us because they want their day to feel like theirs, not a time slot. Here’s how the weekend actually works.

What a Four Day Wedding Weekend Looks Like Here

Think of it less as an event and more as a long weekend with everyone you love. Instead of racing the clock on a single day, you settle in, spread the celebration out, and let each part of the wedding have its own moment. Setup, the ceremony, the reception, and the slow goodbyes all get their own space. Here’s what that looks like across the property.

Time to set up without the scramble

When a venue only opens on the day, everything gets crammed into a few frantic hours. Decorators rush, the wedding party gets dressed in a blur, and someone is always watching the clock. A longer weekend changes that. You arrive early, move in, and set up the wedding barn and grounds at your own pace. You rehearse when it suits you. After the celebration, you’re not tearing everything down the moment the party ends, while your feet ache. Setup, celebration, and cleanup each get room to breathe.

On Site Lodging for Part of Your Group

The part that makes the weekend click is the lodging. Our 4,400 sq ft farmhouse holds six guest rooms; five feature a king bed and a private bathroom so your closest people stay right here on the property. No hotel shuttle, no one driving dark country roads late at night, no goodbyes until the weekend is truly over.

Each room has its own character. The Master Bedroom of the house has a king-size bed, private bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi tub, a private patio with a hot tub, and views of the pond. The Honeymoon Suite offers a private, quiet retreat with a spot to watch a Texas sunset from the windows. The Fun Room and Blue Room connect through an adjoining door, which families like when they want the kids close but in their own space. And Kid’s Corner near the front of the house has a full-size bed plus an additional bed, and can accommodate approximately 3 children or 2 adults depending on the setup, giving the little ones a play area while the adults gather.

Separate from the main house sits The Bridal Silo, an old silo turned into a two story retreat that can sleep up to 5 guests, with a king bed and a queen bed upstairs and a full bath below. It doubles as a calm place for the bridal party to get ready. Pets are welcome across the ranch too, so the dog that’s been part of your story gets to be part of the day.

The barn where it all comes together

Our wedding barn is a 5,000 sq ft open space done in rustic country modern style with reclaimed materials. It seats up to 200 guests on the main floor with room for another 20 on the mezzanine, so you can host up to 220 people and still keep the room feeling warm. Chandeliers hang overhead, three 8-foot windmill ceiling fans keep the air moving, and two bay doors open wide so you can push tables outside for a sunset view. There’s a separate bar nook, a warming kitchen, and dedicated lounges for the bride and the groom. Climate control keeps the space comfortable, and 200 folding chairs come with the rental, so that’s one less thing to source.

Conclusion

At Moonshadow Ranch, a four day weekend gives a wedding room to feel like a real gathering instead of a scheduled event.
