Why families choose the ranch
Getting a family in one place gets harder every year. Once you finally pull it off, the last thing you want is for it to end at nine at night when everybody drives back to separate hotels on different sides of town.
Moonshadow Ranch sits in the rolling hills of Burnet County, 45 minutes from downtown Austin, and the whole place is yours while you are here.
Six farmhouse rooms with a shared kitchen, gazebo and fire pit, so the family lives together rather than meeting up for a few hours.
No shared access with other groups or events during your booking.
A full-sized kitchen for family meals, and an open vendor policy for whoever you hire.
Time to arrive, celebrate and leave at your own pace instead of packing it into an afternoon.
Six bedrooms, one kitchen, everybody together
The ranch house is 4,400 square feet with six guest rooms. Five have private full bathrooms. The sixth is the Flex Room, a flexible room with a full bed that works for whoever needs it. The Silo just off the main house sleeps four, with a king and a queen, which usually goes to the cousins.
Beyond the beds there is a full kitchen, on-site laundry, Wi-Fi, clean linens, heating and air, and a television in the guest rooms. Outside there is a porch looking at the pond, a gazebo, a fire pit area and a private patio with a hot tub off the master suite.
The laundry matters more than families expect on a stay of several days. So does the fact that dogs are welcome with a deposit, since somebody always has a dog they were not going to board. Let us know in advance.
Room by room
The big mealOne room that holds the whole family
When the reunion calls for a formal dinner, a family program, or a barbecue that brings everyone into one space, the 5,000 sq ft barn is ready for it.
Chandeliers, a custom bar nook with an ice machine, a warming kitchen and a mezzanine looking down at the main floor. It feels like an occasion rather than a catered function room.
The two bay doors open the barn straight onto the turf, so an indoor dinner and lawn games outside are the same evening.
Space for every generation
A hotel ballroom gives your family a room. Sixty acres gives them a place. Kids have genuine space to run with an eye on them, adults spread out without feeling crowded, and the group photo has a backdrop no studio can match.
The pond suits portraits, the gazebo suits card games and long conversations, and the animals are a highlight for guests of every age. Children are captivated, grandparents are charmed, and the whole thing loosens up naturally.

Bring the family home to the Hill Country
Some reunions happen in a rented hall and are forgotten before the drive home. Others happen with everyone under one roof and the porch light still on at midnight.
